“To heal is to touch with love that which we previously touched with fear.”

Stephen Levine

Over the last few years I have spoken and listened to hundreds of families who were desperately worried about a struggling child. I have worried about my own child.

This struggle might look like social withdrawal, school refusal, addiction, eating disorders, self-harm, aggression, isolation, defiance, depression, anxiety. For parents there is nothing more distressing and consuming. You feel lost yourselves. How do you help them?

The answer starts with us.

We can feel deeply isolated or confronted by a plethora of conflicting advice. What is the right decision? Where do you place your trust? You may be wondering too, how did we get here, how did my sweet, fun, playful child become like this? What did we miss? Where did we go wrong? There may be feelings of confusion and guilt, grief, anger alongside sleepless nights, endless reading & researching, a sense that you have arrived at a place for which you have no compass.

Everyone is at sea and, despite what it may seem, everyone wants to find a way to safe harbour.

Working with someone who can offer a steady, compassionate, knowledgable presence is often the key to finding a path back to thriving as a family.

  • My approach is deeply human and draws on my own lived experience as well as combined trainings in Psychodynamic Counselling, Professional Coaching Skills, Yoga Therapy and Meditation teaching alongside specialist trainings in mental health and neurodiversity.

  • As importantly is the learning I have gathered from the stories and journeys of so many families over the last three years whilst running We Thrive, www.we-thrive.org.uk, a parent support community for families.

  • I work with parents, either one or both together & I also work with the young person – always with the intention of facilitating understanding, healing, repair and connection.

  • I have a good database of highly recommended professionals (both holistic & allistic) in the various areas of mental health, addiction, neurodiversity, eating disorders if I feel that I am not the best person to support you or if it would be helpful alongside.

  • I also provide a consultancy service which can be a one-off appointment to help provide some guidance on next steps.

I offer a 15 minute introductory call to give us the chance to see if working together will be beneficial.
If we agree to go ahead, our time together is a progressive one with a broad 3 step process:
